AI Transparency Disclosure

Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 — Article 50 Compliance
TravelMaster AI / Marco · Effective: March 2026

1. AI System Classification

TravelMaster AI / Marco is classified as a Limited-Risk AI System under the EU AI Act (Regulation EU 2024/1689), specifically an AI system that interacts with natural persons in the role of a conversational agent (chatbot/concierge).

Classification ParameterAssessment
Risk CategoryLimited Risk (Art. 50 transparency obligations)
System TypeConversational AI / AI-generated content
Prohibited PracticesNone applicable — Marco does not use subliminal manipulation, social scoring, biometric identification, or real-time surveillance
High-Risk CategoryNot applicable — Marco is not used in employment, education, credit, law enforcement, or critical infrastructure contexts
Role in AI Value ChainDeployer — we use third-party AI model providers (current production model version) for conversational intelligence and voice synthesis

2. Mandatory AI Disclosure (Article 50)

In compliance with Article 50 of EU AI Act (effective 2 February 2025), we hereby disclose:

Marco is an artificial intelligence system. You are interacting with an AI — not a human travel agent. Marco’s responses are generated automatically by a large language model and do not represent the opinion of any specific human individual.

This disclosure appears within the Marco interface (“Marco” label with “M” avatar identifying the AI nature of the system) and is reinforced in the landing page copy (“Precision travel intelligence powered by AI”).

3. Underlying AI Technology

  • Primary AI provider: Large Language Model (LLM) — a leading US-based AI research company. Provides conversational intelligence for Marco.
  • Voice synthesis provider: AI speech and content generation — a US-based AI infrastructure company. Used for episode narration and voice output.
  • TravelMaster AI role: Deployer — we prompt, configure, and present AI outputs to end users. We are not the model provider.
  • Neither AI provider receives personally identifiable information from users. Only conversation text (LLM) and narration scripts (voice synthesis) are transmitted.
  • We have not fine-tuned the underlying models for production deployment. This disclosure will be updated if fine-tuned models are deployed.

4. What Marco Can and Cannot Do

4.1 Capabilities

  • Provide travel information, destination intelligence, and logistics guidance
  • Respond in multiple languages natively (German, Italian, French, Spanish, Romanian, and more)
  • Remember context within a single conversation session
  • Adapt tone based on the nature of the query

4.2 Limitations

  • Marco does not have access to real-time data (live flight prices, current availability, breaking news)
  • Marco’s knowledge has a training cutoff date and may not reflect recent changes
  • Marco cannot make bookings, reservations, or purchases on your behalf
  • Marco’s responses are probabilistic and may contain inaccuracies (“hallucinations”)
  • Marco does not verify information against live databases

5. Human Oversight

In compliance with AI Act principles of human oversight:

  • Users can always start a new conversation, request clarification, or disregard Marco’s advice
  • All consequential travel decisions (bookings, safety-critical choices) should be verified through official sources
  • We monitor for systematic errors or harmful outputs and will correct them when identified
  • Users can report problematic responses via: daniel@travelmasterai.com

6. AI Literacy Obligation (Article 4)

In compliance with Article 4 of the EU AI Act (effective 2 February 2025), we ensure our team has sufficient AI literacy to understand and communicate the capabilities and limitations of the AI systems we deploy.

User-facing AI literacy is supported through:

  • Clear labelling of AI-generated content in the interface
  • Transparent disclaimer language on the landing page
  • This disclosure document, publicly accessible at travelmasterai.com/ai-disclosure
  • Guidance within the Terms of Service regarding AI-generated content limitations

7. Data Processing by the AI System

When you interact with TravelMaster AI:

  • When you submit a query to Marco, your message is transmitted to our LLM provider via a secure serverless function
  • When episode audio is generated, narration scripts are transmitted to our voice synthesis provider
  • Narration scripts transmitted to the voice synthesis provider are TravelMaster-authored text only — they do not contain user messages, conversation content, or any personally identifiable information
  • We do not send your name, email, account identity, IP address, or device ID to any AI provider — only conversation text and narration content
  • All AI providers process data under Data Processing Agreements with Standard Contractual Clauses for lawful EU cross-border transfer
  • We do not use your conversations to train AI models. If this changes, we will obtain your explicit consent first.

8. Effective Dates and Compliance Timeline
